The Hardwood store is part of Lewis Lumber Products’ retail division. We are located in North central Pennsylvania, renowned for the highest quality temperate hardwood forests in the world. Lewis Lumber Products uses a large percentage of timber carefully harvested by our sister company, Dwight Lewis Lumber, also located in the same region of central Pennsylvania. We strive to use only sustainable forest resources that have a minimal disturbance to the environment. We are a strong supporter for the use and supply of eco-friendly, sustainable wood products.

In 1941 Dwight Lewis joined his father on the family farm to start a sawmill in Sullivan County Pennsylvania. Two generations later, the sawmill with their extensive timber lands feed a distribution yard/dimension mill business in Picture Rocks. That business supplies the cabinet, furniture, and millwork industry in a 200 mile radius of Williamsport, PA. The Hardwood store caters to walk in business, phone and internet sales that can be picked up or delivered by common carrier or by our own trucks.

Amos Burrows

In 1848, Amos Burrows and his nephew A.R. Sprout settled in the area. They saw crude signs on the rocks on the Muncy Creek and called it “Picture Rocks” (see image above of “picture rocks” in Dwight Lewis mural). Burrows was also the first original developer and owner of the building LLP’s offices and store are located in. The first business in this location was a hardwood furniture business called Burrows Brothers Limited.

Dwight Lewis

In 1941, Dwight Lewis, along with his father, Gleason, built their own sawmill in Hillsgrove, PA to harvest the trees on their farm and supply local residents with building lumber. Dwight accomplished a lot in his lifetime. He was a WWII Navy Vet, a pilot, MIT educated, a school board member, and the founder of a local fire department, just to name a few. Dwight’s sons Marc and Mel currently own Dwight Lewis Lumber in Hillsgrove and are co-owners of Lewis Lumber Products.
